This week’s newsletter is coming to you from Istanbul Airport, where I am about to catch a return flight to Monaco after a very productive week of filming yachts and delivering a keynote address at the Superyacht Summit Turkiye.

It may surprise you to learn that Turkey is now indisputably the second-largest yacht-building nation in the world, with their output in the first six months of 2023 exceeding its total output of 2022 by 50%.

One of the most thrilling aspects of yacht brokerage is learning about how yachts are built, by whom, and where in the world they are built! As an unashamed self-promoter, I can direct you to my YouTube channel “Yacht Builders” to see some of the great shipyards of Turkey and other locations in the world.

As a free piece of advice to aspiring yacht brokers, I can recommend that you look closely at shipyards such as Sirena, Bering, Bilgin, and Turquoise before directing buyers to larger and more famous brands. The “bang for the buck” that they offer is extraordinary, and as somebody who has been visiting the country for 15 years, I have to tell you that the quality of their offerings is going from strength to strength.

While I was visiting I was delighted to see some more students joining the Yacht Broker Master Class course, and some more Certificates of Completion being issued to folk who have completed it.
